All-On-4 Implants

When patients come to our dental office at Horizon Dental looking for a complete smile replacement option after most of their teeth have been missing, we will suggest a complete set of dentures. All-on-4 implants consist of two full arches of artificial teeth and gums that are entirely customized to fit into your mouth. Although traditional dentures are an excellent option for a smile replacement, they are removable, worrying some patients.

There are common complaints from patients with removable dentures, including constantly slipping and that the slipping causes sores on the gums. Traditional dentures suction onto the ridge of the gums, but when the suction breaks, they tend to slip and possibly fall out. We offer all-on-four dental implants for patients who want a more permanent option for their dentures.

Implants

By using a dental implant, we can make any tooth restoration permanent. An implant is made out of titanium and appears as a small rod. The implant needs to be placed into the jawbone through oral surgery. Once put in the correct place, it takes them around six months to heal and assimilate into the jaw bone.

Instead of using several dental implants that support a single tooth each, we can use only four implants to help an entire row of teeth.

All-on-4 Implants Procedure

When acquiring a new smile through dentures, you need to come into our office for a consultation. Your jawbone needs to be solid and dense enough to support the implants to take advantage of dental implants. When teeth fall out, a lack of stimulation passes through the tooth and into the jawbone. This lack of stimulation, in some cases, causes the jawbone to deteriorate, therefore losing its density.

Once it has been decided that your oral health is in good enough conditions to undergo receiving dental implants, we will work closely with you to develop your dentures. All-on-4 dentures contain artificial teeth and gum tissue, but the gum tissue doesn’t cover the hard palate like traditional dentures. We will discuss the size and shade of the new teeth and then send your measurements and wants to the dental lab to have them created.

While waiting for your dentures to be made, you will need oral surgery to insert the implants and a significant amount of healing time.

Finally, when your mouth heals, and the dentures are ready, they will be secured together through the use of abutments.
